Seared Flank Steak with Broccolini Stir-Fry

Serves 4-6

Marinade

  1 cup orange juice
  2 Tbsp. olive oil
  2 Tbsp. sesame oil
  2 cloves garlic, chopped
  2 pounds flank steak

Flank Steak

  3 Tbsp. olive oil
  1 red onion, sliced
  ½ tsp. curry powder
  2 chopped tomatoes
  2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
  ½ Tbsp. chopped cilantro
    Salt and pepper to taste

Broccolini Stir-Fry

  1 red onion, sliced
  ½ cup olive oil
  1 2 inch piece of ginger, minced
  2 cloves garlic, chopped
  1 Tbsp. sesame seeds
  2 tsp. curry powder
  2 cups broccolini
  Anaheim chilies, chopped
  2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  juice from 2 limes
  2 tsp. sesame oil
  2 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
  2 scallion stalks, chopped
  2 Tbsp. cilantro

 

Prepare the Meat

  1. Slice the flank steak into strips and marinate in the orange juice, olive oil, sesame oil, and garlic for 2 hours.
  2. In a wok, heat the olive oil, onion, and curry. Add the marinated beef and sauté for 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes and soy sauce, then add the parsley, cilantro, and salt and pepper to taste.

For the Stir-fry

  1. In another pan, sauté the onions in the olive oil for 3 minutes.
  2. Add the ginger, garlic, sesame seeds, curry and tomato paste, and sauté for another 2 minutes.
  3. With the pan on high heat, add the broccolini, chilies, soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, vinegar, scallions and cilantro.
  4. Plate the vegetables, and top with the meat.
